KOREAN FOOD BANS PET PLASTIC

Since July 1, 2019, foods packaged in PET plastic are banned from import into the Korean market.

The Department of Science and Technology (Ministry of Industry and Trade) said that the Korean Embassy in Vietnam announced that Korea is applying new regulations on food safety management for food cans and containers. (cups, trays, lunch boxes…) when imported into Korea as follows:

Accordingly, from July 1, 2019, the Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) banned the import of food boxes and containers that use recycled thermoplastics (PET).


For canned food products and containers imported from July 1, 2019, importers must present the manufacturer’s certificate, clearly stating the materials used to produce the boxes and containers. food (do not use recycled thermoplastics).
